The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing wrong way detection installations at I-95 southbound Exit 42 off-ramp in West Haven, I-95 northbound Exit 34 off-ramp in Milford, Route 8/25 southbound Exit 5 off-ramp in Bridgeport and Route 15 northbound Exit 53 off-ramp in Stratford. The project consists of wrong way detection installations on I-95 southbound Exit 42 off ramp in West Haven, and I-95 north and southbound Exit 34 off-ramp in Milford, Route 8/25 southbound Exit 5 off-ramp in Bridgeport and Route 15 northbound Exit 53 off-ramp in Stratford. This project is scheduled to occur the night of Monday, August 19 through the morning of Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The Wrong Way Detection System uses video cameras to detect vehicles that are traveling in the wrong direction. If a vehicle is detected, wrong way signs outlined with multiple sets of red lights are activated and begin flashing to alert the driver they are traveling in the wrong direction. Additionally, the system alerts the CTDOT Highway Operations Center and local State Police Troop barracks in real-time, allowing staff to monitor the activities of the wrong way driver on the ramp.

Route 8/25 Southbound Exit 5 Off-Ramp in Bridgeport
Motorists can expect ramp closures on Route 8/25 southbound Exit 5 off-ramp in Bridgeport on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 (Rain date is Wednesday August 21, 2024). Traffic will be detoured for Route 8/25 is to use Exit 4 southbound.
Route 15 Northbound Exit 53 Off-Ramp in Stratford
Motorists can expect ramp closures on Route 15 northbound Exit 53 off-ramp in Stratford on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 (Rain date is Wednesday August 21, 2024). Traffic will be detoured to use Exit 55 northbound.
Traffic control personnel and sign patterns will guide motorists around the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday night through Wednesday morning.
