The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) reports that despite the frigid cold temperatures of late, many of their larger projects are continuing their construction operations through the winter season. See below for the latest updates.
I-95 North Viaduct, Providence
Motorists along I-95 North in Providence are now following the new traffic pattern as part of this project when traveling to Route 146 North or the State Offices.
This week, travelers can anticipate the closure of various ramps as needed on I-95 at the Exit 37 interchange as we demolish the existing ramp from Route 10 North to I-95 North, Sunday-Thursday nights from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
We also need to close Route 6 East, from Dean Street to Memorial Boulevard, as part of this operation, Sunday-Thursday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please follow signed detours.
Overnight alternating lane closures are also scheduled on I-95 North, from Exit 37A to Exit 39A, as we continue demolition of the Smith Street Bridge, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
We also plan to demolish the old ramp from Route 10 North to I-95 North over Amtrak on Friday night from midnight to 4:00 a.m. No lane closures are anticipated, but we apologize in advance for any noise impacts.
