The South Carolina Department of Transportation Department’s holiday lane closure restrictions will be in effect for Labor Day Weekend from 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Lane closures, road closures, shoulder closures, pacing operations or any operations that may impact the efficient flow of traffic or hinder normal traffic operations are prohibited unless warranted by emergency circumstances. SCDOT recommends using the 511 Traveler System: www.511sc.org for road condition updates.

South Carolina Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall reminds motorists to observe speed limits, buckle up, pay attention and to not drive while impaired.

“We remind motorists to focus on safety during this Labor Day Weekend,” Hall said. “For many South Carolinians, it will be a time of relaxation, family gatherings, traveling to sporting events or possibly an end of season vacation. We want everyone to reach their destination safely.”
