The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) reports that later this month, part of the I-95 North Viaduct will open, adding a second lane for motorists exiting I-95 North to Route 146/State Offices. This expansion also enhances the service road for commuters entering I-95 North from Route 6/10 and downtown. For more updates on the Viaduct’s progress, please read below.
I-95 15 Bridges Project
In Providence, Cranston, and Warwick, ongoing curb and guardrail work will temporarily close the on-ramp from Route 10 North and South to I-95 North on Sunday and Monday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Lane closures will also occur on I-95 North on Sunday and Monday nights and on I-95 South from Tuesday to Thursday nights, primarily affecting the Elmwood Avenue Bridge. Detour signs will be posted.

Additionally, bridge demolition at the I-95 North Viaduct in Providence will necessitate the nightly closure of the Route 10 North on-ramp to I-95 North from Sunday to Thursday nights, 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Nightly closures of Providence Place (Harris Ave to Park St) and Promenade St (Park St to Holden St) from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. will also be in effect. Expect alternating lane closures for overhead sign installation on I-95, from Exit 36B to Exit 39, Sunday to Thursday nights, 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Detours will be clearly marked for all closures.
