Delaware River and Bay Authority officials announced that its contractor will be implementing a work zone lane shift in the I-295 Southbound Reconstruction Project on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
As early as 5:00 PM on Sunday evening – January 14, the ramps from I-295 Southbound to I-495 Northbound and I-95 Northbound will be CLOSED to allow barrier walls to be relocated. Half of the work on these ramps to I-495 and I-95 has been reconstructed and the purpose of this switch is to complete the remaining half. The exact start time is dependent on traffic volumes. Both ramps will reopen to traffic at 5 AM on Monday, January 15, 2018.
During this 12-hour closure, motorists who need to travel north from I-295 Southbound will be directed to the Route 141 Interchange. The ramps will only be closed for one night only.
The safety of the traveling public and on-site highway contractors is the agency’s highest priority. The posted speed limit of 40 mph in the construction zone will be strictly enforced. Commuters and travelers are urged to be careful and stay alert in and around construction zones.
