Computer forecast models are showing threats of snow in the northeastern U.S. next week. While a major snowstorm is not anticipated, travelers in upstate New York and interior New England are likely to see some snow accumulation by Friday morning.

A cold weather regime will impact the Eastern two-thirds of the U.S. the rest of this week through much of next week with below normal temperatures. The first of two strong cold fronts will pass through this extensive area over the next two days to start the cold wave, while producing heavy snow from the Great Lakes to northern New England and heavy rain from Texas to the Lower Mississippi Valley.

Southern New England south and east of the Berkshires are unlikely to see much more than a slushy coating of snow before precipitation ends. I-95 travelers from New York to Portsmouth, NH are likely to see rain, while north of Portsmouth and into Maine will see snow.
