Tropical Storm Irma, Continues to Slowly Weaken while moving through Southwestern Georgia…Hurricane Jose does Not Pose a Threat to Florida.
Windy conditions across the state with chances of heavy rainfall throughout the eastern and northern counties as Tropical Storm Irma moves North through the state.
Tropical Storm Irma has maximum sustained winds of 50mph. At 5pm EDT, Irma was located about 10 miles east of Albany, Georgia and about 150 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia and is moving north-northwest at 17 mph. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for North of Fernandina Beach to South Santee River, and North of Clearwater Beach to Aucilla River. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for north of Altamaha Sound to South Santee River. Tropical Storm conditions continuing across North Florida into Georgia throughout the Night.
Elsewhere, at 5pm EDT, Hurricane Jose is a Category 2 hurricane and was located about 360 miles north-northeast of Grand Turk Island and is moving north at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph. It continues to weaken as it moves north. It is too early to tell if Jose will have any direct impact on Florida.
