In an effort to make Thanksgiving holiday traffic move a little smoother, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will be suspending most lane closures throughout the state.
Lane closures will be removed beginning Tuesday night and extend through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Exceptions include Interstate 40 through the Pigeon River Gorge, which will remain in a one-lane pattern. The other exception will be on Old Fort Mountain, where a lane closure will also remain.
