North Carolina Road Closures | I-95 Exit Guide

The North Carolina Department of Transportation reports that, while conditions have improved in some areas, life threatening flooding continues to impact parts of the state. As of Monday, September 17 at 10 a.m., about 1,100 road closures were reported due to flooding and downed trees. Here’s the latest:

  • Wilmington is INACCESSIBLE by land. DO NOT travel to this area — it’s imperative that rescue crews can access limited routes and respond to emergencies. Don’t endanger yourself or others.
  • Several sections of I-95 and I-40 are flooded. We won’t know when these will reopen until waters recede and crews assess damage.
  • Travel should be completely avoided in areas south of U.S. 64 and east of I-73/I-74.
  • All divisions are working to accurately report rapidly changing road conditions.
