As part of the on-going Route 141, I-95 to Jay Drive project, The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that through lanes I-95 southbound, I-495 southbound, and I-295 southbound will be closed. The closures are necessary for the installation of bridge sections. All traffic along I-95 Southbound and from I-495 Southbound will encounter a multi-lane closure that will funnel traffic into a single lane that serves as a ramp connection at Route 141.
I-295 Southbound to I-95 southbound merge will also be closed.
The nighttime closure will occur at 10:00 PM on Tuesday, April 20 until 5:00 AM on Wednesday, April 21.
Location: I-95 Southbound between I-295 Southbound Merge to Route 141 Overpasses, Newport/Wilmington.
Detour Routes:
I-95 Southbound: Motorists will use the right lane signed for Route 141 ramps and stay on the deceleration lanes and merge back onto I-95 southbound.
I-295 southbound to I-95 southbound merge will be closed.
For traffic on southbound I-295 to I-95 southbound, vehicles will take the ramp Exit 5/Route 141 northbound (Newport) then take Exit 3B to I-95 southbound (Newark/Baltimore).
For motorists traveling I-495 southbound to I-95 southbound will take the ramp Exit 5, and stay on the right lane to Route 141 ramps and stay on the deceleration lanes and merge back onto I-95 southbound.
For motorists traveling I-495 southbound to I-295 northbound stay to the left to exit onto I-295 northbound.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
