The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that regional bridge and guiderail repairs will continue next week on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, February 13, through Wednesday, February 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 AM, lane closures will be in place on the northbound deck on the I-95 Girard Point Bridge between Penrose Avenue (Route 291)Opens In A New Window and Broad Street (Route 611) in Philadelphia for bridge repair;
- Monday, February 13, through Thursday, February 17, a single lane closure will be in place from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, followed by a double lane closure from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM on southbound I-95 from just south of the Route 420 South Interchange (Exit 9A) to just south of the Interstate 476 Interchange (Exit 7)Opens In A New Window in Delaware County for guiderail repair and utility discovery;
- Tuesday, February 14, through Thursday, February 17, a single lane closure will be in place from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, followed by a double lane closure from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM on northbound I-95 from just north of the Delaware state line to just north of the Route 452 Interchange (Exit 2)Opens In A New Window in Delaware County for utility discovery; and
- Thursday, February 16, and Friday, February 17, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Bridge Street/Harbison Avenue (Exit 27) and Betsy Ross Bridge (Exit 26) interchangesOpens In A New Window in Philadelphia for expansion joint repair.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The expansion joint repair is part of a project to perform high-priority repairs on several structures on I-95, I-476 and Interstate 295 in Philadelphia, Delaware and Bucks counties.
The guiderail repair and utility discovery are part of a $80.6 million project to rehabilitate pavement and several bridges on more than 11 miles of the interstate in Lower Chichester, Upper Chichester, Chester, Ridley and Tinicum townships, the City of Chester and Upland and Ridley Park boroughs.
