Major I-95 Project in Delaware Begins March 30, Ramp Closures, Detours Expected

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that the I-95, Carr Road and Marsh Interchange Project will begin at midnight on March 30, 2019. This project will consist of the following: additional turn lanes at Marsh Road/Carr Road and Marsh Road and I-95 southbound ramp intersections, plus pedestrian and bicycle improvements.

Phase 1 construction will have an immediate traffic switch on Marsh Road, putting all traffic in Contraflow Pattern on the existing Marsh Road northbound lanes.

Closure of Exit 9/ Marsh Road/Carr Road to I-95 Northbound

Detour Routes: Traffic traveling north on I-95 will use Exit 8/US 202, make a right onto US 202/Concord Pike, a left onto Washington Street and return to Marsh Road.

If you miss the detour, motorists can proceed to Exit 10/ Harvey Road and make a left onto Harvey Road, make a left onto I-95 southbound and proceed back to Exit 9/Marsh Road via I-95 southbound.

Closure of Marsh Road onto I-95 Southbound and Marsh Road Southbound onto I-95 Northbound

Marsh Road northbound will be open to motorists onto I-95 northbound.

Motorists traveling south onto Marsh Road will proceed to Washington Street, make a right onto Washington Street, make a right onto US 202/Concord Pike to I-95.

Traffic traveling north on Marsh Road to I-95 southbound will make a left onto Washington Street, make a right onto US 202/Concord Pike to I-95 southbound.

Traffic traveling north on Marsh Road that misses the detour, can proceed north onto Marsh Road, make a left onto Wilson Road, make a left onto Foulk Road, make a left onto US 202/Concord Pike and continue onto I-95 southbound.

Carr Road will be closed between the Washington Street and Marsh Road

Local traffic to the Rockwood Office Park and New Castle County Bringhurst Woods parking area from Washington Street. Traffic will utilize the Washington Street and Marsh Road interchange in lieu of Carr Road.

Local traffic can enter Carr Road on the southern end from Washington Street only. No access to Carr Road at Marsh Road will be permitted.

All of the above detours and road conditions will remain in place until late November 2019.
