The Maine Turnpike Authority reports that starting at 12:01 AM on Monday, August 1 the northbound ON ramp at Exit 47 (I-95) in Portland will be closed. It will reopen by 12:01 AM on Saturday, August 6. This ramp closure is necessary in order to reconstruct the ramp, including culverts and drainage infrastructure. The ramp will be paved and striped. All other ramps at Exit 47 will be open during this closure. Drivers are asked to use Exit 48 (Riverside Street) in Portland during the closure.
In addition, there will be other ramp closures at Exit 47 this summer. Variable Message Boards are in place alerting drivers to the upcoming closures. All of the work is weather dependent. Drivers are urged to check the variable message boards and the MTA’s social media for updates.
This work is part of the Portland Area Widening project, adding a third travel lane in both directions from mile 46 to 49.
