A lengthy ramp closure needed for an I-95 construction project near Kenly in North Carolina has begun.
As a result the ramp to northbound I-95 from Bagley Road at mile marker 105 has been shut down. It is expected to remain closed through the rest of the project construction, which would be until October 2018.
The closure is needed because of a traffic shift that will move vehicles from the existing bridges to the detour bridges. It will put drivers into the current acceleration lane off Exit 105, so the ramp has been shut down to eliminate possible conflicts between vehicles already on northbound I-95 and those entering the highway off the exit.
A short signed detour will put vehicles on I-95 South. They will exit at Micro Road (Exit 102), where they can get back on I-95 North. Because of the anticipated increase of traffic for the Micro Road exit, a temporary signal will be in place for traffic control.
This I-95 construction project calls for the replacement of both the north and southbound bridges over the Little River slightly north of the exit.
