Long-Term Lane Restrictions on I-95 in Portsmouth Will Impact Traffic

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will begin day work for a Portsmouth project on I-95 Southbound consisting of the realignment of portable concrete barriers along the right shoulder. The shoulder will be reduced from 8’ to 2’ for approximately 5 months.

I-95 Project Details

Weather dependent, this work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 30, 2025. This work will require the use of a lane closure; the right lane and shoulder of Southbound I-95 will be closed from the Exit 4 on ramp (MM 13.8) to the Exit 3A off ramp (MM 13.0).

Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the travelling public.

This work is part of the construction of two sound abatement walls and privacy fence along I-95 in Portsmouth. This $18.7 million project, is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
