On Friday May 8, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation is beginning a series of periodic extended-weekend highway lane and local street closures for work at the bridges that carry I-95 over Roosevelt Avenue and East Street in Pawtucket.

Delays are anticipated so we’re recommending travelers use I-295 and Route 146 as alternate routes.

Baker Pines Bridge, Richmond

Work Expected: We plan to continue demolishing the bridge decks inside the temporary barrier on I-95 and remove debris from this operation along Route 3 under the bridge, Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Traffic Changes: Our debris and equipment removal may require a lane closure on I-95 one or two days during the week, and lane shifts or shoulder closures on Route 3 under the bridge, Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Centerville Road and Toll Gate Road Bridges, Warwick

Work Expected: We will install new drainage pipe across the travel lanes on I-95 South, from Exit 12 to Exit 10A, Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the same time period, we will install reinforcing steel, form the deck and the backwall, and apply waterproofing to the Centerville Road Bridge deck along Route 117 (Centerville Road) West, between the I-95 on- and off-ramps.

Traffic Changes: Our drainage work on I-95 South, from Exit 12 to Exit 10A, requires alternating lane closures, Monday-Friday (Monday and Tuesday: left lanes; Wednesday-Friday: right lanes) from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please note: one lane will close at 7:00 a.m., a second at 9:00 a.m. The bridge work on Route 117 West, between the I-95 on- and off-ramps involves a right shoulder closure, Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please use caution when traveling through the area as there will be frequent vehicle access in and out of the work zones.

Kingston Road Bridge, Richmond

Work Expected: Utility relocation and installation of highway lighting, drainage and temporary traffic signals are scheduled on I-95 and at Route 138, Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Traffic Changes: Lane shifts remain on Route 138 East and West under the bridge, with ramp narrowing at Exit 3 off I-95.
