The Florida Department of Transportation reports the following traffic impacts as a result of I-95 construction in the Daytona Beach area:
Lane Closures
Sunday, March 25th, 2018 to Saturday, March 31st, 2018
- U.S. 92 Closures Sunday – Thursday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Sunday, U.S. 92 eastbound will be closed at I-95. Monday – Thursday all lanes of U.S. 92 will be closed at I-95. Traffic will be detoured using Tomoka Farms Road, Bellevue Avenue and Williamson Boulevard. Please note traffic will not be able to use the I-95 southbound on ramp from U.S. 92. Traffic will be detoured south on Williamson Boulevard to Beville Road.
- Sunday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., I-95 northbound & southbound lane closures from U.S. 92 to south of I-4.
- Wednesday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m., inside lane closure on the ramp from I-4 eastbound to I-95 northbound for pouring an approach slab.
This project involves widening Interstate 95 (I-95) from four lanes to six lanes from north of State Road (S.R.) 44 to north of U.S. 92 (International Speedway Boulevard). The southern project limit will tie into the recently completed I-95 widening project to the south (from south of S.R. 406 to north of S.R. 44). The project scope also includes the reconstruction of the systems interchange with I-4, I-95 and U.S. 92.
Work to be done includes pavement widening, drainage systems improvements, bridge widening, bridge replacement, retaining walls, highway lighting, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) modifications, median barriers, signing and pavement markings, signalization, milling, and resurfacing.
This project reconstructs the I-95 interchange leading to and from I-4 and U.S. 92, which will increase mobility and connectivity. It will also increase safety for merging, exiting and through-traffic. The project will eliminate a left-side merge ramp onto I-95 from U.S. 92, just a short distance to the south. Additional lanes will be constructed along I-95 allowing vehicles traveling through the area to continue in dedicated lanes, and vehicles entering and exiting I-95 to be separated into dedicated entrance and exit lanes.
