The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that core borings and shoulder construction are scheduled next week on I-95 in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, June 11, through Wednesday, June 14, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on the southbound I-95 ramp to westbound I-676 (Exit 22) for core borings;
- Monday, June 12, through Friday, June 16, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures will be in place on I-95 in both directions between the Bridge Street and Allegheny/Castor Avenue interchanges (Exits 25, 26, 27) for core borings; and
- Monday, June 12, through Friday, June 16, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a right lane closure is planned on northbound I-95 between South Street and Market Street for shoulder construction.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work areas. The schedule is weather dependent.
The shoulder construction is part of early-stage construction activities on mainline I-95 in advance of demolition and construction on the overhead covered area between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street under PennDOT’s $329 million I-95/CAP project.
