The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will close the northbound and southbound Open Road Toll (ORT) lanes on I-95 in Hampton, beginning Tuesday, October 15, 2024, for a full system replacement of the ORT equipment. The work is expected to take three months with an anticipated “Go-Live” date of early January 2025. All traffic will be directed through the traditional cash and E-ZPass lanes within the barrier plaza.
The E-ZPass ORT system relies on sensors, cameras, computer servers, and specialized software that collect and process each transaction. The closure and replacement are necessary as the existing system was installed in 2010 and the equipment is at its life expectancy.
Travelers should slow down, obey all posted signs and focus on driving.
