I-95 Lane Restrictions, Closures, Detours for Work Next Week

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) reports the following traffic impacts associated with I-95 construction and maintenance work. All activities and weather dependent and subject to change.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick

RIDOT is replacing the first half of the I-95 northbound bridge over Elmwood Avenue this weekend. The second half will be replaced next weekend.  From now through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, two left lanes on I-95 North, after the Route 10 (Exit 33) interchange will be closed along with the left lane on I-95 South, near the Elmwood Avenue off-ramp (Exit 34.) Elmwood Avenue will be closed at the bridge. Please follow signed detours and seek alternate routes. A lane split will be installed on Monday, November 4 thru Friday, November 8, on I-95 North, just after the Route 10 (Exit 33) interchange, with two lanes on either side of the work zone.

Travelers should expect short-term single or double lane closures in the areas approaching and intersecting I-95 at Jefferson Boulevard; the Pawtuxet River; Route 10; Eddy Street; and Broad Street, Monday thru Thursday nights, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Daytime bridge work behind barrier on I-95 North over Elmwood Avenue, Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. continues.

Bridge demolition at this project involves the closures of Exit 37 B-C-D off I-95 North, plus the on-ramp from Atwells Avenue to I-95 North, Sunday-Thursday nights from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please follow signed detours. Alternating lane closures for barrier work are also anticipated on both directions of I-95, from Exit 37 to Exit 39, Sunday thru Thursday nights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
