The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) reports the following I-95 road and lane closure notices effective for the week of February 17-23, 2024. All schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
I-95 North Viaduct, Providence
I-95 North motorists are using a new traffic pattern after the Downtown exit and near Providence Place Mall with a newly relocated Exit 38, about one mile south of its former location. RIDOT has posted numerous signs to clearly guide motorists to their destinations.
Additionally, RIDOT needs to remove overhead sign structures and bolt in the recently-placed steel beams at the Smith Street Bridge, requiring alternating lane closures on I-95, from Exit 37A to Exit 39A, Monday – Thursday nights from 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Guardrail installation also prompts the overnight closures of various ramps within the I-95 North Exit 37 interchange, Monday – Thursday nights from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and a right lane closure on Route 146 North, from I-95 to the Admiral Street overpass, Thursday night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please follow signed detour.
