Interstate 95 and Interstate 295 motorists in Bucks County will encounter single and double lane closures next week for various construction activities on a project to repair and resurface 13 miles of I-95 and I-295 in Bensalem, Bristol, Middletown and Lower Makefield townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced.
The work schedule is:
- Monday, December 17, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a single lane closure is scheduled on southbound I-95 between the Route 132 (Street Road) and Academy Road interchanges for inlet grate installation;
- Monday, December 17, through Friday, December 21, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, double lane closures are scheduled on northbound I-95 and eastbound I-295 between the Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) and Route 413 (Bristol) interchanges for subbase installation; and
- Monday, December 17, through Friday, December 21, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, single lane and shoulder closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound I-95 between the Academy Road and Pennsylvania Turnpike interchanges for guide rail installation.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 and I-295 in the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling, overlaying and rehabilitating existing pavement; performing base repairs; installing new guide rail; repairing or replacing damaged traffic signs; performing minor bridge deck repairs; and installing rumble strips and delineators along the I-95 and I-295 corridor in Bucks County.
