The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will be installing Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) traffic monitoring equipment along I-95 and I-495 northbound and southbound. WIM devices are in-road sensors designed to record gross vehicle weight, axle weight, speed, classification, and volume while vehicles travel at highway speeds.
This information will be used to enhance the Department’s Traffic Monitoring Program and assist with highway planning, roadway design and management, route restrictions, traffic studies, and legislative measures.
Times and Dates: 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on weekdays starting on Tuesday, October 26 until early December 2021, pending weather.
Location: I-95 Northbound/Southbound, approximately ½ mile north of Marsh Road Interchange AND I-495 Northbound/Southbound between Edgemoor Road and Philadelphia Pike,Wilmington.
Nighttime intermittent lane closures and shoulder closures will occur for this project. Motorists should be aware of lane shifts and slow down in work zones.
