Motorists should anticipate midday and overnight delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound for multiple work zones this week in the Fredericksburg area.
The following lane closures are planned, weather permitting:
Interstate 95 Southbound
Potomac Creek Bridge (mile marker 137) Stafford County
- Thru Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
- A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at the Potomac Creek bridge for a bridge rehabilitation project. Double lane closures end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning. The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).
Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
- Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. Thursday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m.
- A single, right lane on I-95 southbound will be closed near Exit 130 for construction activities related to the project. All lanes will reopen at 10 a.m. the following morning except on Friday at 6 a.m. Expect overnight delays near the interchange.
Exit 130B Off-Ramp (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
- Thru Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 1 p.m.
- The Exit 130 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to westbound Route 3 as part of the I-95 interchange safety improvement project. All lanes will reopen at 1 p.m. the following day except on Friday, when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Expect brief delays at the interchange.
Ni River Bridge (mile marker 121) Spotsylvania County
- Thru Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
- A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Ni River bridge followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. as crews continue a bridge improvement project. The Ni River bridge is located at mile marker 121, just south of Exit 126/Massaponax.
Exit 118 (Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road) Off-Ramp Spotsylvania County
- Thru Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- The Exit 118 off-ramp which carries traffic from I-95 southbound to Mudd Tavern Road will be reduced to a single lane for storm sewer installation. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working in the right lane and right should of the ramp. Expect brief delays at the interchange. The work is related to the I-95 overpass replacement project and widening of Mudd Tavern Road.
Exit 118 (Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road) Spotsylvania County
- Thru Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2:30 p.m.
- A single, left lane on I-95 southbound near Exit 118 will be closed near the interchange for construction activities.
Interstate 95 Northbound
Aquia Creek Bridge (mile marker 145) Stafford County
- Thru Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- Expect alternating, single lane closures on I-95 northbound at the Potomac Creek bridge for a bridge rehabilitation project. The Potomac Creek bridge is located at mile marker 145, just north of Exit 143/Route 610.
Potomac Creek Bridge (mile marker 137) Stafford County
- Thru Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- A single, right lane will be closed on I-95 northbound at the Potomac Creek bridge.
Exit 130 On-Ramp (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
- Thru Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- The on-ramp carrying traffic from westbound Route 3 to I-95 northbound will be narrowed to allow crews to work safely along the shoulder of the ramp. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the shoulder of the ramp.
Ni River Bridge (mile marker 121) Spotsylvania County
- Thru Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.
- A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Ni River bridge followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.
- Thru Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- Expect a single, left lane to be closed at the Ni River bridge.

- Thru Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
- A single, left lane on I-95 northbound near Exit 118 will be closed near the interchange for construction activities.
