The Maine Department of Transportation reports that beginning August 3 contractors will begin interstate 95 paving operations in Aroostook and Penobscot Counties.
This work will span two years. Crews will be paving segments of the northbound side of I-95 (including some highway bridges and ramps) between Medway and Sherman. MaineDOT will also be paving and making other improvements to the Visitor Information Center in Medway and the Katahdin Scenic Overlook in T1 R6.
MaineDOT will also be clearing the Sherman interchange to increase visibility to cut down on deer strikes. This year’s work continues to October 7th. Operations will be suspended for the winter and then resume on May 1st, 2021.
The estimated project completion date is July 7th, 2021. Drivers should expect overnight lane closures during paving operations.
