The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction is scheduled next week on sections of northbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, July 31, and Tuesday, August 1, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Bridge Street interchanges for inlet repair; and
- Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a right lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between South Street and Market Street for curb and rumble strip removal.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work areas. The schedules are weather dependent.
Drivers also are reminded that the Tacony Street and Bridge Street Intersection at the I-95 Bridge Street Interchange remains closed to through traffic for emergency sewer repair in Philadelphia. Motorists are directed to follow the posted detour routes.
Northbound Tacony Street traffic is being permitted to turn right onto eastbound Bridge Street to access the ramp to northbound Interstate 95. Westbound Bridge Street traffic is being permitted to turn left onto southbound Tacony Street to access Aramingo Avenue.
The intersection will remain closed to through traffic until Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW), Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), and affected utilities make the necessary repairs.
