Motorists should anticipate brief overnight travel delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound in the Fredericksburg area on Thursday, December 1 for multiple work zones.
Several lanes will be closed between Exit 130/Route 3 in Fredericksburg and Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford County. Lanes will be closed from Thursday evening into early Friday, Dec. 2 at the following locations and times:
Interstate 95 Southbound
- 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. Double lane closure. Crews will collect pavement samples from the left and center lanes of I-95 southbound between the Route 17 overpass and the Rappahannock River bridge.
Interstate 95 Northbound
- 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Single lane closure. Crews will close the right lane for ongoing construction of a new interstate overpass at Fall Hill Avenue, which is just north of Exit 130/Route 3.
Message boards will provide advance warning of these work zones and lane closures. Motorists may consider using Route 1 as an alternate route to avoid delays.
