Expect Delays on I-95 in Fredericksburg This Week

The Virginia Department of Transportation reports that motorists should anticipate midday and overnight delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound with several work zones scheduled this week in Spotsylvania County.

The following lane closures are planned, weather permitting:

Interstate 95 Southbound

  • Ni River Bridge (mile marker 121) Spotsylvania County
    • Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
      • A single lane will close at 9 p.m. at the Ni River bridge followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. the following morning. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. Crews are working to finish a bridge improvement project. The Ni River bridge is located at mile marker 121, just south of Exit 126/Massaponax.
  • Exit 118 (Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road) Spotsylvania County
    • Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2:30 p.m.
      • A single, left lane on I-95 southbound near Exit 118 will be closed near the interchange for construction activities. The work is related to the I-95 overpass replacement project and widening of Mudd Tavern Road.
  • Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    • The Exit 118 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road. Flaggers will direct drivers looking to make a left turn onto Mudd Tavern Road from southbound I-95. Drivers should be alert to construction equipment and crews working along the ramp’s shoulder.

Interstate 95 Northbound

  • Exit 118 (Route 606/Mudd Tavern Road) Spotsylvania County
    • Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
      • A single, left lane on I-95 northbound near Exit 118 will be closed near the interchange for construction activities related to the bridge replacement project.

Overhead message boards will warn travelers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and possible delays.
