The Virginia Department of Transportation reports that I-95 motorists should anticipate delays this week on Interstate 95 southbound with double lane and ramp closures for paving and maintenance work on the interstate starting tonight, August 12.
Each evening this week, I-95 southbound will be reduced to a single lane near the Exit 136/Centreport Parkway interchange in Stafford County for paving. Also, the I-95 on and off ramps to Centreport Parkway will be closed.
On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Route 3 eastbound toward downtown Fredericksburg will be closed overnight for guardrail and pavement repair.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control near the work zones.
Message boards will warn drivers to stay alert for possible delays.
Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled:
I-95 Southbound
Exit 136/Centreport Parkway
Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Crews will begin milling and paving I-95 southbound between mile markers 137 – 135 near Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. One lane will be closed in the work zone at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. each night. Motorists should be alert for a temporary, rough travel surface in milled areas. The I-95 southbound on and off ramps to Centreport Parkway will also be closed. Drivers should access I-95 southbound at Exit 140/Courthouse Road or Exit 133/Falmouth. All I-95 southbound lanes and ramps will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
Exit 130/Route 3 Off-Ramp CLOSED
Tuesday – Wednesday, 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
The I-95 southbound off-ramp to Route 3 eastbound toward downtown Fredericksburg will be closed. Crews will be repairing pavement and guardrail along the ramp. Drivers should either exit I-95 southbound to Route 3 westbound then U-turn at Carl D. Silver Parkway or exit at Exit 126/Massaponax interchange in Spotsylvania County.
I-95 Northbound
Exit 136/Centreport Parkway to Exit 133/Falmouth
Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Drivers can expect a single left lane closure overnight on I-95 northbound between mile markers 134 – 137, which is located between Exit 133/Falmouth and Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. Crews will be installing work zone signs and building construction entrances to the median for the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project, also known as Fred Ex.
