The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is advising drivers to anticipate overnight lane closures on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area this week with work zones requiring double lane closures starting tonight, Sept. 18.

Intermittent full traffic stops on I-95 southbound are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20 at Exit 130/Route 3 to allow crews to install a new overhead sign as part of the safety improvement project at the interchange. I-95 southbound traffic will be stopped up to 30 minutes at a time for motorist safety.

Overnight travelers on I-95 are encouraged to use Route 1 or Route 301 to avoid delays.
