The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that regional bridge repairs will continue next week on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia under a $44.5 million bridge improvement project to perform high-priority repairs on several structures on I-295, Interstate 95 and Interstate 476 in Bucks, Delaware and Philadelphia counties.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, January 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are planned on northbound I-95 approaching the Columbus Boulevard/Washington Avenue Interchange (Exit 20); and
- Tuesday, January 10, through Saturday, January 14, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are planned on northbound I-95 between the Route 611 North (Exit 17) and Columbus Boulevard/Washington Avenue interchanges (Exit 20).
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Repairs to the structures under this project include replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.
The project also includes the replacement of high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.
