The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that paving operations are planned next week on Interstate 95 through the ongoing permanent reconstruction project at the Cottman Avenue Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.
I-95 Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
Wednesday, May 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, a left lane closure will be in place on northbound and southbound I-95 between the Academy Road and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The lane closure will allow PennDOT’s contractor to safely place the concrete deck on the inner section of the new southbound bridge.
The outside sections of the new bridge were completed last November, and traffic was shifted onto the completed outer sections while work on the center section of the bridge continues into mid-2024.
