Detours and lane closures on Interstate 95 in Rhode Island will make travel a little more difficult this week. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports the following highway restrictions:
Weekend Lane Closures
- Richmond/Exeter/West Greenwich: I-95 North, from Exit 4 (Rte. 3) to Exit 6 (Rte. 3), right shoulder closed for mowing, Saturday from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Warwick: I-95 South, from Exit 13 (Airport Connector) to Exit 12 (I-295), left lane and shoulder closures for drainage work, Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Temporary Exit and Ramp Closures
- Providence: I-95 South at Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.), exit closed for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour using Exit 22A (Memorial Blvd.).
- Providence: Access from I-95 South at Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.) back to I-95 South will be closed for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour.
- Warwick: I-95 North and South at Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.), temporary on- and off-ramp closures for paving, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
Overnight Highway Restrictions
- Cranston/Warwick: I-95 North and South, from the Park Avenue overpass to Exit 14 (Rte. 37), alternating lane and shoulder closures for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
- Providence: I-95 North and South, from just north of Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), alternating lane and shoulder closures for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
- Providence: I-95 South at Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.), right lane closed for construction, from Monday morning at 5 a.m. through Thursday morning at 5 a.m.
Weekday Restrictions
- Hopkinton to Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, just beyond the shoulder areas from Mechanic St. in Hopkinton to Roosevelt Ave. in Pawtucket, be mindful of crews installing traffic equipment, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
