The Highway Diner is one of those 50’s retro diners with art deco architecture, plenty of chrome and neon and a great atmosphere. They serve burgers, fries, sandwiches, shakes and deserts. They also serve breakfast all day.
We’ve been here several times on the way back from Florida. We now plan our trips to include a stop in Rocky Mount and a meal at the Highway Diner. It can get a little crowded at times but the service is still fast and friendly.
My wife and I usually spend less than $20 for breakfast (try the “U-Turn Breakfast), and less than $25 for lunch. I recommend their Ruben Sandwich or their Philly Cheese Steak. Both are delicious!
Locally owned and operated, the food is good, the prices are reasonable and the service is great. It’s only about 2 miles east of I-95, exit 138. Take US64 east then north on Winstead Avenue. The Highway Diner is on your left.
Highway Diner is located at I-95 Exit 138, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina
Thanks for the great recommendation. Stopped by heading to Florida from Virginia Beach.
We love eating here when we go to Penn. Good homemade food. They serve homemade cakes and pies. Soooooo, many choices!!!!!!
This site is completely awesome!
