Full I-95 Traffic Stops This Week in Fredericksburg, Consider Alternate Routes

Construction for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension requires nightly double lane closures, with full intermittent stops between midnight and 3 a.m.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports that Interstate 95 travelers will encounter overnight delays in the Fredericksburg area this week as construction for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project will require varying single to double lane closures with intermittent full traffic stops in Stafford County.

Crews are preparing to open the 10-mile extension of 95 Express Lanes in August.

Details for this week’s work zones, through Thursday, August 3, ending early Friday, August 4, include:

Interstate 95 Northbound

Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) at Route 17 to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)

  • 9:00 p.m. Single lane closure
  • 10:00 p.m. Double lane closure
  • Midnight – 3:00 a.m. Full intermittent traffic stops for up to 30-minute intervals
  • 4:30 a.m. All lanes open

Interstate 95 Southbound

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)

  • 9:00 p.m. Single lane closure
  • 10:00 p.m. Double lane closure
  • Midnight – 3:00 a.m. Full intermittent traffic stops for up to 30-minute intervals
  • 4:30 a.m. All lanes open

To avoid delay, overnight I-95 travelers with destinations outside the Fredericksburg area are encouraged to consider alternate routes.
